Ivan's Salvation Testimony

It has been a privilege to be taken to Independent Bible preaching Baptist churches all my life. At approximately 5 or 6 years of age I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior. The date was not recorded for me, but I clearly remember the event and place. Every Sunday morning, Mrs. Turner would teach Children's Church. She taught us the Gospel according to I Cor. 15:3, 4. One Sunday after class, I asked Jesus to forgive me of my sin and to save me. Based on John 5:24 and I John 5:13, I know He did save me that moment.

My Call to Missions

During the summer of 2003, my wife and I were driving vans in the Grace Baptist Church bus ministry. We brought kids of all races to hear the gospel and many were saved. When we would do follow-up visitation in the homes of the kids to witness to the parents and family, we ran into the Spanish language barrier. We didn't speak enough Spanish and they didn't speak enough English. This happened over and over again. It is happening all around the United States. There are hundreds maybe thousands–of tight-knit Spanish communities all across the United States with no Gospel witness. The vast majority of Independent Baptist Churches are not equipped to take the Gospel to them due to the language barrier. Many of the adult Hispanics in these areas do not speak/understand enough English to understand the Gospel. In order to reach them, we must become fluent in their language. God has broken my heart for these people. He has laid a heavy burden on my heart to plant Hispanic Baptist churches here in the United States. I believe the "national pastor" philosophy needs to be applied within our borders. We need to train Hispanic preachers to reach areas that non-Hispanics cannot evangelize.

Church Ministry Experience

Bus Ministry, Bus captain, Children's church, Soul-winning Visitation, Graduation from Baptist Bible College, Springfield, MO, Pastor, Assistant Pastor, Teacher, Music/Choir Director, Spanish Ministry.

Charlotte's Salvation Testimony

I was blessed to be born into a Christian home, the third of five girls, to Lewis and Marie McAdoo. My dad was an Independent Bible Believing Baptist Preacher. I was taken to church from infancy, and I heard about Jesus all of my life. As a child I said a little prayer because I wanted to go to Heaven, but I really didn't think I was a bad person. As I grew older I taught Bible School, Sunday School and all the things that were expected for a Christian to do. When I was in Bible College, God showed me definitely that I only had a "head knowledge" of Jesus Christ and not a "heart knowledge'. He told me if I didn't repent of my sin, I would die and go to hell. Realizing my need for salvation, (Rom. 3:23, Rom. 6:23 and Rom.3:10), I repented of my sin and asked Jesus to save me. There is only 18 inches from your head to your heart. Many people miss Heaven by 18 inches. I know I am saved, born again into the kingdom of God, according to I John 5:13.

My Call to Missions

It is interesting how God has brought many Missionaries into my life form my childhood to an adult. Though the testimonies of the Missionaries were very influential and (exciting at times), it has always been God's Word that has kept me hearing the call in Mark 16:15, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature" and in Matt. 28:18-20, "And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nation, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen". and "God is not willing that any should perish, but all should come to repentance."

These words from my LORD ring loud and clear. I remember my dad praying for his children that God would call them into full time service (even into Africa if it would be His Will). I was a young girl, but I remember being afraid of God calling me to Africa. I said I would go any where, Lord, except Africa. God continued to work on my heart until one day I surrendered. I then realized, God wanted me to be willing to go any place He wanted me to go, without exceptions .The LORD has never spoken to my heart about Africa since that time of surrender.

I know God has called me to help my husband reach the Spanish speaking people here in the United States. My husband and I drove 15 passenger vans for our church. We picked up children of different races on our routes for VBS, Sunday school, Awanas, or for whatever activities we would have at church. Though I loved them all, God gave me a special love for the Hispanic children.

My husband and I were hindered with the language barrier when we would try to talk to the parents of the children that rode our vans. When these children would receive Christ as their Savior, we would go to follow up with their parents, (they could not speak enough English to understand us and we could not speak enough Spanish to share the Gospel with them). It broke our hearts that we could not explain to them what Jesus had done for their children and what HE could do for them. As we went out on visitation we saw many communities of Spanish speaking people who did not speak English and needed to know that Jesus died for their sins and wants to save them. In less than a year the Hispanic population had grown from 20,000 to 30,000, in a city of 100,000. We became burdened to reach these people for Christ. WE BELIEVE THAT GOD HAS BROUGHT THE UTTERMOST TO US. Our prayer and goal is to establish Spanish speaking Baptist churches throughout all of the United States.

Christian Ministry Experience

Through my Christian life, God has allowed me to be active in the following: Teacher, (Sunday school, VBS, Sign Language, ACE schools, Children's Church/Ministries); Bus Ministry, Visitation Outreach, Spanish Ministry, Church/Christian School Secretary, Custodial Work. I have been privileged to be a small part in each of these services for my LORD.
